BURNS RECEIVES ALL-CENTRAL REGION SECOND TEAM HONORS
STERLING, Va. – UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball forward Michelle Burns (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) has been named to the 2008 D3hoops.com All-Central Region Second Team, D3hoops.com editor and publisher Pat Coleman announced today. To be eligible for the team, a player must have been a first team all-conference selection. Sports information directors in the central region then cast ballots to determine the teams. Burns has already received a number of other honors this season. She was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Year and was the WIAC’s Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete. She was also selected to the All-WIAC first team. Burns was also named one of 40 finalists for the State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team recently. Earlier this season she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five Women’s Basketball Second Team. The WIAC was represented well on the D3hoops.com All-Central Team. The entire second team was comprised of WIAC players, including Platteville’s Lisa Wubben, Stevens Point’s Haley Houghton, Stout’s Julia Hirssig, Whitewater’s Tiffany Morton and Burns. Whitney Tyriver received first team honors, while Whitewater’s Kelsey Hendrickson was a third team recipient. D3hoops.com All-Central Region Team - KM -
