BURNS FINALIST FOR STATE FARM COACHES’ ALL-AMERICA TEAM

ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Michelle Burns (Eau Claire, Wis./North) has been named a finalist for the State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today.

In all there are 40 finalists from around the country, which is broken up into eight regions. Burns appeared on the region seven list which also included Stevens Point’s Haley Houghton, Benedictine University’s Tamika Curtis, Carroll College’s Crystal Hoewisch and Millikin University’s Lindsay Ippel.

Burns has already received a number of other honors this season. She was recently named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Year and was the WIAC’s Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete. She was also selected to the All-WIAC first team. Earlier this season she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five Women’s Basketball Second Team.

The 40 finalists are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team. The winners will be announced at the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Banquet on Thursday, March 20 at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
