Assistant Women's Basketball Coach - Peg Johnson

Peg Johnson enters her fourth season as the assistant coach for the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team. Since her arrival to Eau Claire Johnson has helped the Blugolds win two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) conference and post-season tournament championships and advance to the NCAA post-season tournament two times. During that stretch the Blugolds have posted an overall record of 74-15.

The Blugolds posted a 32-2 overall record and third place finish at the NCAA Division III post-season tournament in 2002-03. On the road to the final four the Blugolds went a perfect 16-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play, won the WIAC post-season tournament and hosted four home games in the NCAA tournament.

Prior to arriving in Eau Claire, Johnson served as the head women's coach at Gustavus Adolphus College for eight seasons. In 1992, she was the youngest women's college head coach in the nation when she began her coaching career at Gustavus. During her eight seasons, the Gusties compiled a 118-83 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III post-season tournament in 1995. Johnson was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1998-99.

Originally from Loveland, Colorado, Johnson played basketball at Gustavus for three years and was named Academic All-MIAC and team captain her junior and senior season. She graduated magna cum laude from Gustavus in 1990 and earned her master's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sport Psychology in 1998 from Minnesota State-Mankato. At UW-Eau Claire, Johnson also serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology and Athletics and is the Associate Camp Director for the Blugolds Girls Basketball and Leadership Camps during the summer.
