LEISGANG NAMED SECOND TEAM NFCA ALL-AMERICAN
SALEM, Va. – UW-Eau Claire softball second baseman Casey Leisgang (Sr.-Seymour, Wis.) has been named a second team Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-American at the national championship banquet here tonight. Leisgang joins only seven other Blugolds who have received the honor previously. The last time Eau Claire had a selection as an All-American was in 2006 when Mallory McKinney received second team honors. This season Leisgang has tied the school single season home run record (11) that she set as a sophomore and has extended her school career home run total to 38 which ties the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference career mark. She has set a school single season and career runs record, with 59 and 182, respectively. Her career runs and walks (88) are also WIAC highs. Leisgang’s batting average of .478, on base percentage of .567 and slugging percentage of .862 this season are all the best of her career. She became a four-time first team All-Conference pick, a four-time NFCA All-Region selection (twice to first team, twice to second team) and was named to the All-Regional Tournament team for the second year in a row.
