Softball Assistant Coach - Robin Baker

Robin Baker

Robin Baker enters her sixth season at UW-Eau Claire as an assistant softball coach. Baker also serves as the Budget Coordinator/Assistant to the Athletics Director for the university.

At Eau Claire Baker helped guide the Blugolds to three-straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) softball conference championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006. No other team in WIAC history has won three-straight WIAC championships. Baker has coached two All-American, 12 All-Region and 14 first team All-WIAC selections in softball.

Last season Baker along with the entire Blugold coaching staff received the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year Award. Currently Baker is also a member of the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Softball Regional Committee.

Baker came to Eau Claire after spending two years as the head volleyball coach, co-head softball coach, middle school athletics director and high school physical education instructor at Nevada, Iowa.

Her resume also includes nine years as the head softball and eight years as head volleyball coach at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. There she took the Knights to their first-ever post-season appearances in both sports.

A native of Swea City, Iowa, Baker earned her bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She received a master’s in athletics administration from St. Cloud State in 1990.

Her career has included stints as a member of NCAA regional ranking committees in both softball and volleyball. She earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coach of the year honors in both softball (1994) and volleyball (1996) and was an Iowa High School Class 2A district coach of the year in volleyball for the 2000 season.
