EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire softball shortstop Emilee Planert (Sr.-Eau Claire/North) has been selected to play for Midwest Collegiate All-Stars as they will face the United States National Softball team July 15 at Zenoff Park in Stevens Point.

The 2004 Women's National Team roster consists of four two-time Olympic gold medalists and six of the 15-member 2000 Olympic Team. Thirteen of the 17 members of the 2002 World Championship gold medal winning team remain intact. The team will consist of members such as Lisa Fernandez, Jennie Finch and Laura Berg.

Planert concluded her career as a Blugold as a three-time first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes Region selection. She led the team in batting (.398), hits (51), runs (34), total bases (82), slugging (.641), triples (3), and on-base percentage (.458) while finishing second on the team in home runs (6), RBI (27), walks (14), and stolen bases (13).

Academically, Planert is a four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and was named to the 2004 Academic All-District V College Division Softball first team.

After winning the past five World Championships, the past five Pan Am Games and the only two Olympic gold medals, the USA Softball Women's team has been the undisputed No. 1 team in the world for the past 17 consecutive years.
