MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD FINISHES FOURTH AT UW-OSHKOSH INVITE

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team finished fourth out of 14 teams on Saturday afternoon at The UW-Oshkosh Invite.

The event was won by the host team, UW-Oshkosh. Oshkosh won the event with a point total of 174.5 points. Behind Oshkosh was UW-Lacrosse with 149.5 points. UW-Whitewater came in third with a total of 143.5 points. Rounding out the top five was UW-Eau Claire with 123.5 and UW-Stevens Point with 110.

On the Track side of the competition, Ben Pearson (So.-Clinton, WI) was the only Blugold to turn in a first place finish. Pearson’s first place finish came in the 3000-meter steeplechase. His time of 10:06.60 earned the team 10 points.

In the 800-meter run, Eau Claire had four of the top six top finishers. Rob Wilcox (Jr.-Green Bay, WI/Southwest) finished in second with a time of 1:59.54 in the final meet. The other Blugolds who finished in the top six were Adam Flyte (So.-Fort Atkinson, WI), Ben Brossard (Sr.-Green Bay, WI/Southwest), and Andy Sol (So.-Menomonie, WI).

On the field side of the event, the Blugolds best performance came from Al Oleson (Sr.-Wausau, WI/West) in hammer throw. Oleson won the event with a throw of 54.83 meters. Oleson also had a solid performance in the shot put as well turning in a second place finish with a distance of 15.3 meters in the final.

The UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team will be in competition again next Saturday when they host the Blugold Open. The Blugold Open is slated to start at 10 a.m.
