MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD SET FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team is ready to compete in two events at this year’s NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in Ada, Ohio. Five members of the team will compete in the events. The Blugolds will participate in the 4x400 meter relay and the weight throw. Tim Braunschweig (So.-Mukwonago, Wis.), Brian Christ {[(Sr.-Arcadia, Wis.), Chris Kupfer (Jr.-Germantown, Wis.) and Justin White (So.-Arcadia, Wis.) will represent the Blugolds in the 4x400 meter relay. The team was selected for the championships after finishing with a time of 3:18.51 in fourth place at Stevens Point’s Last Chance qualifier meet last weekend. The race will be the second to last event at this year’s championships, beginning at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. Sam Johnson (Jr.-Deer Park, Wis./Amery) is also headed to Ohio to compete in the weight throw. His throw of 59-8 ¼ on February 16 at the Platteville Invite led the conference and was the fifth longest throw in the NCAA Division III this season. He will compete at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
