MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD TOPS POINTER LAST CHANCE MEET
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – In the last meet before nationals, the UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team beat 18 others to win the UW-Stevens Point NCAA Qualifier. The Blugolds had 84.50 points while the home team followed with 70. UW-Oshkosh was third with 56 and Monmouth College (IL) took fourth on 53 points. UW-La Crosse rounded out the top five at 51.50 points. There was one top spot on the track. James Marsh (So.-Madison/West) was the 3,000-meter champ with a time of 8:58.08. Kevin Weber (Fr.-Mounds View, MN/Irondale) finished third in the event at 9:11.74 while Ben Pearson (So.-Clinton) claimed fourth at 9:14.40. Tony Carr (Jr.-Menomonie) finished third in the 1-mile run on a 4:26.96 effort. Logan Koerten (Fr.-Plover/SPASH) was the champion in a couple of field events, including the long jump with 6.73 meters (22’ 1”). Koerten and Joe Felber (Jr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) were first and second in the triple jump with distances of 13.44 meters (44’ 1 ¼”) and 13.35 meters (43’ 9 ¾”). On Friday and Saturday, Eau Claire will participate in the NCAA Indoor Championships, which take place in Ada, Ohio. Results- PH -
