MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS

EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire men's track and field coach Chip Schneider recently announced the 2006 team award winners.

Nick Aliota (Jr.-Brookfield/Central) was named the team Most Valuable Performer. Aliota finished fifth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.21 seconds. Aliota also posted the fastest 200-meter time with a 22.43 and was a member of the team-leading 4 x 100-meter relay time which ran a 42.75.

Chris Kupfer (Fr.-Germantown) was named the team Newcomer of the Year for his performance as a sprinter. Kupfer ran the fastest Blugold time of the year in the 400-meter dash (50.17 seconds) as well as being a member with Aliota in the 4 x 100-meter relay team. Kupfer also posted the second-fastest time in the 100-meter dash (11.27) and third-fastest time on the team in the 200-meter dash (22.80).

Jordan Klein (Sr.-Arcadia) was presented with the Captains Award for his leadership and dedication to the Blugold team.
