TRACKSTERS COMPETE AT NATIONALS

DECATUR, Ill. - Ashley Nelson (Jr.-Darwin, MN/Litchfield) and Erin Kokta (Jr.-Brookfield/East) fell in the preliminaries of the women's long jump at the first day of the 2004 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held here today.

Nelson fell in the second flight of round one after a jump 18-2 ¼ feet (5.54 meters) while Kokta fell in the first flight of round one following a jump of 17-8 ¼ feet (5.39 meters).

St. Thomas's Kristal Grigsby took first with a jump of 19-10 ¾ feet (6.06 meters), which broke the nation's previous high of 19-8 ¾ feet (6.01 meters).
