MEN'S TRACK FIFTH AFTER DAY ONE OF WIAC INDOORS
MENOMONIE - The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field team scored 16 points en route to a fifth place finish after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships here today at UW-Stout.
The Blugolds scored 16 points while UW-La Crosse led the way with 54.50 points. UW-Whitewater finished with 54 points while UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh finished third and fourth with 27 and 24 points respectively.
John Schuna (Jr.-Hudson) claimed half of the Blugolds' points with a second place finish in the shot put competition. Schuna posted a throw of 53-8 ½ en route to the second place finish.
The Blugolds earned six points with a third place finish in the distance medley competition. The team finished the event in a time of 10:18.42.
The remaining two points were tallied by Ethan Kreul (Jr.-Poynette), who claimed seventh place in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:28.54.
The Blugolds will look climb up the leader board tomorrow with competition beginning at 9:20 a.m. in the final day of the championships.
