MEN'S TRACK SETS SEVERAL HIGH MARKS AT CARLETON RELAYS

NORTHFIELD, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team set several NCAA provisional and automatic marks at the Carleton Relays this weekend at Laird Stadium.

John Brumund-Smith (Sr.-Waunakee) won first place in the 400 hurdles by over a second in a time of 55.19. Two Blugolds took third and fourth in the 200 as Adam Sturgis (Fr.-Bruce) and Jordan Klein (Fr.-Arcadia) recorded times of 22.51 and 22.75, respectively. Zach Severson (Fr.-Sun Prairie) finished third in the 800 clocking in at 1:56.77.

Matt Goertz (Jr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) obtained a NCAA provisional time in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 9:21.16.

John Schuna (So.-Hudson) threw a season-best and NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 54-4.25 (17.17 m) in the shot put while reaching a provisional distance of 166-0 (50.59 m) in the discus. Chris King (So.-Chippewa Falls/Chi-Hi) placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 155-7 (47.43 m).

The Blugolds will travel to Indianola, Iowa this Friday to compete in the Simpson College Invitational.
