DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM TAKES THIRD AT NATIONALS

GREENCASTLE, Indiana - The UW-Eau Claire men's distance medley relay team took third place at the NCAA Division III 2003 Track and Field Championships held here today at DePauw University.

The team of Matt Goertz (Sr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln), Jordan Klein, Zach Severson (Fr.-Sun Prairie) and Ben Schmiege (Jr.-Madison/Lakeside Lutheran) finished the race in a time of 10:13.72.

Fellow Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse finished first and second respectively with Oshkosh setting the track center record with a time of 10:10.07.

John Schuna (So.-Hudson) will look to defend last year's championship when he competes in the shot put competition tomorrow. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
