SCHUNA, DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM TO GO TO NATIONALS
The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team will be represented by John Schuna (So.-Hudson) and the distance medley relay team at this year's NCAA Division III Track and Field Indoor Championships held at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana this weekend.
With his toss of 16.79 meters at the Blugold Open held January 24, Schuna received a provisional bid to the championships. Chris Basich of Mount Union College set the top score of the year with a toss of 17.23 meters earlier in the year.
The team of Matt Goertz (Sr.-Manitowoc/Lincoln), Jordan Klein, Ben Schmiege (Jr.-Madison/Lakeside Lutheran), and Zach Severson (Fr.-Sun Prairie) will be running the distance medley relay for the Blugolds at the championships. With their time of 10:04.76 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships the group received a provisional bid. The team from Muhlenberg College set the pace for the year with their time of 10:01.59.
The distance medley relay race will be held Friday at 7:50 p.m. The preliminaries and finals for the shot put competition will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
