MEN'S TRACK IN SEVENTH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE
OSHKOSH - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team finished in seventh place out of eight teams here tonight after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship held at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh.
The Blugolds finished with a team score of eight points on the day while Oshkosh sits in the driver's seat with 55 points after the first round of competition. La Crosse holds down second place after day one with 46 points followed by Stevens Point with 33 points..
The Blugolds claimed six of their eight points in the distance medley relay competition. The Eau Claire team finished the event in a time of 10:04.76, good for third place overall. The Blugolds faced tough competition in the event as the Oshkosh relay team set a new WIAC indoor record for the event with a time of 10:02.12.
John Schuna (So-Hudson) scored the other two points for Eau Claire with a seventh place finish in the shot put. Schuna finished seventh in the event with a throw of 15.08 meters.
The Blugolds will resume action at the WIAC Indoor Championship tomorrow morning at the Kolf Sports Center.
