MEN'S TRACK TAKES FOURTH AT ST. OLAF BORDER BATTLE

NORTHFIELD, MN - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team got five first place finishes to finish second while the men's team had two first place finishes in taking fourth at the Border Battle at St. Olaf here today.

Jackie Bloemendaal (Fr.-Wright, MN/Cromwell-Wright) got thing started for the Blugolds with a first place finish in the high jump with a jump of 1.58 meter. Jane Ovanin (So.-Amherst) added another first place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:52.09.

The 4x200-meter relay team got the third first place finish for the Eau Claire women with a time of 1:48.39. Breanna McMullen (Jr.-Fall Creek) ran the 55-meter hurdles in 8.71 seconds to take home first in that event.

McMullen added her second and the team's fifth first place finish when she finished the 400-meter run in 1:00.04.

The Blugolds finished behind St. Thomas by only four points. St. Olaf came in next with UW-Stout finishing last.

John Schuna (So.-Hudson) took home a first place finish the Blugold men with a shot put toss of 15.43 meters. Schuna also added a second place finish in the 35-pound weight throw competition.

James Larson (Sr.-Brooklyn Center, MN/Park Center) took home the other first place finish for the men in the 5000-meter run. Larson finished in a time of 15:44.32. Ethan Kreul (So.-Poynette) added a second place finish in the 3000-meter run.

Eau Claire finished in last place with St. Thomas coming in first followed by St. Olaf and UW-Stout.

Both the men and women's team will travel to Menomonie Friday to participate in the Blue Devil Invite hosted by Stout. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
