MEN’S TENNIS HOSTS TWO DUAL MEETS THIS WEEKEND
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team takes the court this weekend, hosting two non-conference dual meets against Ripon College and Macalester College on Sunday. The Blugolds come into the weekend with a 3-1 overall record. The only meet they dropped was one on Friday to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State. Ripon and Macalester both begin their 2008 campaigns this weekend. Ripon will travel to Oshkosh on Friday for a dual meet while Macalester will start its season with a dual meet against Ripon in Eau Claire and will then take on the Blugolds later in the day Sunday. Four Blugolds have yet to be beaten in singles play this season. Erik Brandner (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) has gone 4-0 in the No. 4 spot while Brett Burleigh (Fr.-Verona, Wis.) is 2-0 playing at No. 6. Lars Olson (Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) and Phil Loprinzi (So.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) are also 4-0 this season, with Olson not dropping a match at No. 5, and Loprinzi going 1-0 in the No. 1 spot and 3-0 at No. 3. C.J. Rose (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley) and Eric Wollum (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) are also undefeated and have won the most doubles’ matches for Eau Claire. The duo is 3-0 on the season going 1-0 at No. 2 doubles and 2-0 at No. 3. The Blugolds will face Ripon at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and will then take on Macalester at 4 p.m. Macalester and Ripon will also face each other at noon. All the meets will take place in the Ade Olson addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center. - KM -
