MEN’S TENNIS ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS
EAU CLAIRE – UW-Eau Claire head men’s tennis coach Tom Gillman has announced the team award winners for the 2006-07 season. Jeff Peterson (Sr.-Edina, MN) was named the team Most Valuable. Peterson was 7-4 overall in singles action including a perfect 4-0 record at No. 6 Singles. In doubles play Peterson played with three different partners to post an overall record of 14-6 including an 8-2 performance at No. 3 Doubles. Tim Eisele (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN) received the Team Player Award. Eisele posted an 11-12 record at No. 1 singles this season and was 10-3 overall in doubles play including an 8-2 record at No. 3 Doubles. Brett Gressick (Jr.-De Pere) earned the team’s Most Improved Award. After going 1-2 in singles action in 2005-06 Gressick won the most singles matches on the team this season sporting an overall record of 19-5. Gressick won matches at three different flights going 7-0 at No.1, 8-3 at No. 5 and 4-0 at No. 6 Singles. Phil Loprinzi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) received the Coaches Award. Loprinzi recorded an overall singles record of 9-6 going 7-2 at No. 6 Singles. In doubles play Loprinzi played with five different partners to produce a 14-10 overall record featuring an 11-4 performance at No. 2 doubles with Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN). Nordenskjold was presented with the Blugold Award. Nordenskjold posted 11-9 records in both singles and doubles play. Nordenskjold won all 11 matches at No. 3 Singles while teaming with Loprinzi at No. 2 Doubles producing an 11-4 record at that flight. The Blugolds ended the season with a dual meet record of 13-8. After starting the season 0-3 the Blugolds won five of their last six matches posting a season-best five match winning streak.
