MEN’S TENNIS RUNS STREAK TO FIVE
EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team won its fifth straight match today with a 5-4 victory over UW-Oshkosh. The team improves to 13-7 on the year. It is only the second 5-4 win of the season. The other came against Augustana College (IL) on Feb. 16. The Blugolds took two matches in doubles. Phil Loprinzi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) teamed with Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN) for an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles. Jeff Peterson (Sr.-Edina, MN) and Erik Brandner (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) had to go to nine points to take their triumph, a 9-7 victory in No. 3 doubles. Two of Eau Claire’s singles victories went to three sets. Steve Lantz (So.-Rochester, MN/Century) won 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 matchup while Loprinzi took the No. 6 sets 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. Peterson also won 6-3, 6-1 in No. 5 play. The team’s season will conclude today with a match against UW-Whitewater, which defeated UW-La Crosse 9-0 today. Eau Claire 5, Oshkosh 4 Singles No. 1 – Todd Miller (UWO) defeated Tim Eisele (EC) 6-0, 6-2 No. 2 – Steve Lantz (EC) defeated Corey Dickert (UWO) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3No. 3 – Brian Naidicz (UWO) defeated Aaron Nordenskjold (EC) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 No. 4 – Seth Breunig (UWO) defeated Brett Gressick (EC) 6-2, 6-0 No. 5 – Jeff Peterson (EC) defeated Brandon Lepp (UWO) 6-3, 6-1 No. 6 – Phil Loprinzi (EC) defeated James Lewison (UWO) 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 Doubles No. 1 – Miller/Dickert (UWO) defeated Eisele/Lantz (EC) 8-0 No. 2 – Loprinzi/ Nordenskjold (EC) defeated Fuller/Naidicz (UWO) 8-3 No. 3 – Peterson/Brandner (EC) defeated Breunig /Heroux (UWO) 9-7
