MEN'S TENNIS SPLITS WITH WIAC OPPONENTS

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team split with two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponents today, losing to UW-Whitewater, 7-0, and then defeating UW-La Crosse, 5-2, in its final dual meets of the season.

The Blugolds had no such luck against UW-Whitewater in its first dual meet of the day. The Warhawks won all seven matches in straight sets on their way to victory.

The Blugolds had better success in their second dual meet of the day against UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds won four of the six singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches.

In singles, Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) at No.1 singles defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-1. At No.2 singles, Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse, WI/Central) rallied to win in three-sets 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Kevin Fawcett (Fr.-Madison, WI/Verona) at No. 4 singles was also victorious 6-2, 6-3. The final Blugold singles win of the day was by Erik Brandner (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) at No. 5 singles, who also won in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

In doubles, it was the No.1 team of the Eisele and Steve Lantz (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Century) winning 9-7 and the No.2 team of Znidarsich and Aaron Nordenskjold (Jr.-Red Wing, MN) winning 8-5.

The Blugolds end their regular season with a dual meet record of 15-6.
