MEN'S TENNIS TAKES FIFTH AT NCTA CHAMPIONSHIPS
LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team took fifth place at the Northern Collegiate Tennis Association Championships concluded here today.
Chris Baga (Fr.-Duluth, MN/Marshall College Prep) took second place at six singles for the top Blugold finish. Baga cruised through his opening round match 6-0, 6-1 and defeated Winona State's Dan Clarke 7-5, 6-2 in the second round to advance to the finals. Baga fell to UW-La Crosse's Jeff Strand 6-4, 6-3 in the finals to finish second.
Adam Arians (Sr.-Mankato, MN/Loyola) and Chad Fawcett (Jr.-Madison/Verona) each took home third place finishes. Arians took third at two singles following a 7-6, 6-4 win over Winona State's Kyle Savelkoul. Fawcett finished third at five singles with his 1-6, 7-6 (11-9) win over the College of St. Scholastica's Chris Ho.
La Crosse took first as a team followed by UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh, and Winona State.
