MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO WASH U., WITTENBERG

ST. LOUIS, MO - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Wittenberg (OH) College 5-2 and host Washington University 6-1 this past weekend.

Against Wittenberg Matt Widder (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls) and Adam Arians (Jr.-Mankato, MN/Loyal). After dropping the first set Widder stormed back against Duby Lakos at No. 2 singles to win the match 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 while Arians earned a hard-fought straight set victory over Mike Herzog 6-4, 7-6 (12-10) at No. 4 singles.

Bob Hartman (Fr.-McFarland) was the lone Blugold singles victor against Wash U., ranked seventh nationally in the latest ITA Division III rankings. At No. 6 singles Hartman defeated David Weingeist 6-4, 6-1. The team of Arians/Widder posted a win in No. 1 doubles action by defeating Tom Fisher and Chee Lee 8-6.

The Blugolds have a weekend off before returning to the court on Friday, April 18 when they travel to La Crosse to face UW-Whitewater. The match is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
