MEN'S TENNIS SWEEPS MSU-MANKATO AND WINONA STATE

WINONA, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team continued their winning ways defeating Division II MSU-Mankato and Winona State by 7-2 scores here today at St. T's Tennis and Sports Complex.

The pair of wins improves the Blugolds' season record to 5-3. The Blugolds have now won five of their last six dual matches.

Individually the Blugolds were spearheaded by the efforts of Adam Arians (Jr.-Mankato, MN/Loyola) and Andrew Kallio (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial). Arians defeated Jon Gould of Winona State 7-6, 6-4 and Casey Wright of MSU-Mankato 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Kallio was impressive in wins over Jon Lawrence of Winona State 6-1, 6-1 and Brent Hendrickson of MSU-Mankato 7-6, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

The Blugolds did not drop a single match in doubles competition as No. 1 doubles Matt Widder (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls) and Arians, Tyler Litscher (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) and Kallio at No. 2 doubles and Chris Slagle (So.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and Ryan Gruhlke (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) at No. 3 doubles all posted 2-0 records on the day.

The Blugolds will open play on their spring break trip on Monday, March 17 when they face Savannah College of Arts and Design in Savannah, Georgia.
