BLUGOLD TENNIS GETS SECOND STRAIGHT SHUT OUT
The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team followed up yesterday's blanking of UM-Morris with another shut out as they didn't lose a game in defeating Concordia University 7-0 here today.
Number one singles player Matt Widder (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls) needed to win seven games to take the first set 7-5 but cruised in the second set to win 7-5, 6-2. Number two singles player Adam Arians (Jr.-Mankato, MN/Loyola) had a difficult time with Concordia's Nelis duPlessis but still won in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.
All three doubles teams were victorious with Widder and Arians winning 8-5 in the number one doubles slot.
With the win, Eau Claire evens their season record to 2-2.
The Blugolds will travel to Decorah, Iowa next to play Hamline University Friday and Luther College the following day. The Hamline match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
