MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING ROSTER ANNOUNCED

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire men’s swimming and diving roster was released last week by second year head coach Jerry Kollross.

This year’s team is very young and green with a total of 13 freshmen. The Newcomers this year are Tom Dahl (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins), Bruce Eigner (Eau Claire, WI/North), David Hammer (Alexandria, MN/Jefferson), Ben Macalalad (Wausau, WI/East), Jared Martin (Lakeville, MN/North), Duane Mateski (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Nick Mehring (Eagan, MN/Eastview), Trevor Miller (South St. Paul, MN), Jake Monahan (Farmington, MN), Chris Paradeise (Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), Jonathan Poppele (Maple Grove, MN/Wayzata), Carl Serum (Eau Claire, WI/North), and Sampson Simeon (Madison, WI/East).

With no seniors on the squad this year the leadership will have to come from the returning sophomores and juniors. The members of the team who will be responsible for stepping up this year as returners are Alex Colborn (So.-Rochester, MN/Century), Brian Lockwood (So.-DeForest, WI), Kenny Ritt (So.-Racine, WI/Horlick), Matt Schultz (So.-Oakdale, MN/North), Pat Sogla (So.-Eau Claire, WI/North), Sam Wojta (So.-St. Paul, MN/Central), Brandon Blaisdell (Jr.-Prior lake, MN), Clark Draxler (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine, WI/Horlick), Patrick Finley (Jr.-Waunakee, WI), Brian Jordan (Jr.-Madison, WI/West), and Peter Schultz (Oakdale, MN/North).

Last year the men’s swim team finished the season with an overall record of 14-8, a dual meet record of 3-4, and a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) record of 2-3. The team’s season ended in a third place finish at the WIAC Championships. The Blugolds finished behind UW-Stevens Point and UW-La Crosse.

The men’s swimming and diving team started the season off on a winning note last Friday with a victory over UW-Oshkosh. Their next event is scheduled for Friday, October 19, 2007 at 5 p.m., when they will host Minnesota State University.
