DYKSTRA COMES UP SHORT IN ONE-METER DIVE, THREE-METER UP NEXT
OXFORD, Ohio – The UW-Eau Claire swimming and diving team’s lone representative, diver Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick), completed day one of competition at the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by The College of Wooster at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center today. Unfortunately, Dykstra was unable to qualify for the one-meter dive event finals, after failing a dive in preliminaries. Only the top sixteen divers advance past preliminaries, with the top eight competing in the finals and the next eight competing in the consolation finals. Oshkosh’s Jacob Chadderdon was the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s only other representative in the event at the championships, where he finished in second place. Chadderdon also took second place, behind Dkystra, last month at the WIAC Championships. Winning the NCAA one-meter championship was Amherst College’s Kai Robinson. Dykstra still has one event ahead of him, the three-meter dive. Round one of diving is set for Friday afternoon, while the second round will take place Saturday afternoon, with finals beginning later in the evening. One-Meter Dive Final Results - KM -
