THREE BLUGOLD ATHLETES TABBED FOR CONFERENCE HONORS

MADISON, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire men’s swimmer Trevor Miller (Fr.-South St. Paul, Minn.), men’s diver Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine, Wis./Horlick) and women’s swimmer Angie Bakula (Fr.-Appleton, Wis./West) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) players of the week, conference spokesman Matt Stanek has announced.

On Saturday the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted their final WIAC dual meet of the season against UW-Whitewater. Both teams pulled off victories with the men winning 150-91 and the women winning 177-66.

Miller finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.73, almost a second ahead of the second place finisher. He also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.52, more than a second ahead of the second place finisher. Miller also helped anchor Eau Claire’s 400-yard medley relay team that finished first with a time of 3:47.95.

Dykstra took home victories in both the one-meter and three-meter competitions. He won the one-meter event with a score of 259.60 and the three meter event with a national qualifying score of 285.30.

Bakula turned first place performances in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Bakula won the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 2:00.9 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:29.39.
