WENDT HONORED AS A THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

DULUTH, Ga. – UW-Eau Claire senior men’s golfer Pete Wendt (Lake Mills, Wis.) has been named a third team Division III PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America following the 2008 NCAA Championship Friday.

A total of 11 golfers received first team honors, nine received second team honors and 17 received third team honors. Wendt was also selected to the 2008 Division III PING All-Central Region Team.

Wendt joins only 10 other Blugolds who have received All-American recognition. Last season Rob Norris was a third team selection as well after finishing tied for 19th with 307 strokes at the 2007 Division III Championship.

At the championship this season, Wendt was the top Blugold golfer. He tied for 83rd place after shooting a total of 316 strokes. He shot 77 on days one and two, and came back with an 80 on the third day and 82 on the fourth.
