Men's Golf Head Coach - Jim Maguire

Jim Maguire

Jim Maguire enters his first season as the head men's golf coach for the Blugolds.

Maguire, who was a four-year collegiate varsity player at UW-Stout, has been the head golf professional or assistant golf pro at Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire (2004), Bass Lake Country Club in Antigo (1998-2003), Town & Country Club in St. Paul (1997), Prairie du Chien Country Club (1994-96), Eau Claire Golf & Country Club (1991-93) and Northwood Golf Course in Rhinelander (1989-91). While in high school and college, he also worked at the Tuscumbia Golf & Tennis Club in Green Lake (1983-88).

Maguire currently is account executive and office manager for Commodity Plus, Inc., a wholesale pork trading company, in Eau Claire. He also is the teaching assistant at the Eau Claire Country Club.

At UW-Eau Claire, Maguire will direct a program that has made eight consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III national tournament, winning a national championship in 2001 under head coach Todd Oehrlein and led by current pro golfer Ryan Quinn. UWEC is the only school in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference that fields a men's golf program. The Blugolds became a national contender in the NAIA and later the NCAA under Hall of Fame coach Frank Wrigglesworth who took 10 teams to nationals during his 22 years as head coach.

Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon said he was pleased with Maguire's selection. "Jim was selected over some excellent candidates who applied for the position. We think our program is in good hands to be able to maintain the excellence that has been there."

Maguire and his wife Kim and children Mackenzie (4) and Michael (2) live in Menomonie.
