FOURTH PLACE FINISH AT HOME MEET FOR MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

COLFAX - The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team came up big in the main home event of the year taking fourth out of 15 competitors at the Blugold Open at Whitetail Golf Course.

The team compiled 139 points. St. John's won it all with 64. UW-La Crosse came in second with a 65 score. University of Minnesota-Duluth, which won the meet last year, tallied a 70 total. Rounding out the top five, UW-River Falls scored 146. It is the best non-dual finish for Eau Claire since it took first out of five in the 2003 home meet.

The top Blugold runner today was Kevin Hall (So.-Green Bay/Preble). His 26:14 time was good for 10th place out of 234 runners. The winning time of 25:32 came from University of Minnesota-Duluth's Eric Atkinson.

Ted Lillie (Sr.-North St. Paul, MN) ran 26:28 for 18th place. Brent Kann (So.-Rice Lake) clocked in at 26:38 and 25th. Jules Miller (Jr.-Green Bay/East) ran a 29th place 26:46. Brian Riley (Fr.-Chippewa Falls) had a time of 27:23 and got 57th.

The next meet for the Blugolds is on October 14th in La Crosse.
