AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

EAU CLAIRE - Two awards were handed out at the UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team's recent banquet held in honor of the fall season.

The season saw Eau Claire finishing in the top ten teams in all events but two. This includes an eighth place finish out of 22 teams at the Midwest Collegiate Championship and a sixth place finish at the 15-team Blugold Open.

Kevin Hall (Fr.-Green Bay/Preble) won the Most Valuable runner award. Hall claimed first for the team in three events. He also took second twice and third once for the Blugolds. His first place finishes were at the Luther College event, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship and the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. His top finish overall was 24th at the Blugold Open in Colfax. Hall's fastest 8-K time was clocked in at 27:00 exactly, which occurred at the Midwest Regional.

The Newcomer of the Year award went to Brent Kann (Fr.-Rice Lake). For the team, Kann took first once, third once, fifth twice and eighth once. His first-place finish occurred at the Jim Drews Invite that was hosted by UW-La Crosse. He took third in the opening meet of the year, the Luther College race in Decorah, IA. Kann's top placement out of all runners was 49th at the home Blugold Open. A 26:59 race at the Jim Drews Invite marks his best 8-K finish. It was the fastest 8-K time of the year for the entire team.
