MEN’S BASKETBALL COMES BACK TO BEAT LIONS

HANCOCK, Mich. – In a game that saw the UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball team down big in both halves, Eau Claire came from behind to pull out a 78-76 win over Finlandia University (MI).

The Blugolds are now 6-3 and the Lions are 3-6.

The team shot well from the floor, going 36-of-55 for 65 percent. They had more trouble from the line, just making 4-of-15. The Blugolds were 2-of-6 from behind the arc, as well. There were 10 turnovers in the first half, but just six in the second as Eau Claire overcame the large deficit.

Ryan Shea (Fr.-Duluth, MN/East) had an outstanding game, scoring 31 points and grabbing nine boards, both of which led the team. Dan Beyer (Sr.-Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) had 15 points and Rashann Goodwin (Jr.-Minneapolis, MN/Holy Angels) collected 12.

Finlandia did have a shot at the end of the game, but it missed as Eau Claire took the victory.

The Bluoglds are off until Dec. 28 when they host the two-day Holiday Classic.
