MUCHOW NAMED ASSISTANT BASKETBALL COACH

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Keith Muchow has been named assistant men’s basketball coach, head coach Terry Gibbons and Athletics Director Scott Kilgallon announced.

The appointment came following the departure of former assistant Matt Siverling, who accepted a position as video coordinator for the Division I Arkansas Razorbacks in June.

Muchow has been with the Blugolds for the past five seasons in a volunteer capacity, helping with recruiting, scouting and on-court responsibilities. This season, Muchow will take on more administrative duties, as well as playing a bigger role in game-day management and recruiting.

“Muchow is one of the hardest working assistants I have ever had,” Head Coach Terry Gibbons said. “His knowledge of and enthusiasm for the game of basketball, combined with the work he has done for the program the last five years, make him an excellent choice as our assistant coach.”

A native of Cuba City, Wis., Muchow was an assistant girl’s basketball coach at Cuba City High School for one season. That year the Cubans advanced to the WIAA Division 3 sectional finals falling to eventual state champion Lakeside Lutheran. Muchow played high school basketball at Cuba City for legendary coach Jerry Petitgoue, the all-time winningest coach in Wisconsin high school basketball history. Muchow also spent two months as an assistant basketball coach for the Cuba City boy’s basketball team in 1998 that went on to win the Division III state championship. He was also a head coach for the Pride AAU Basketball Club team in Richland Center, Wis. for five months before coming to UW-Eau Claire as an assistant sports information director and strength coordinator.

Muchow received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia (Wis.) with a degree in athletic training including minors in coaching and organizational communications in May 1998. In May 2000, Muchow received his master’s degree in sport administration from UW-La Crosse. Muchow is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
