BEYER AND RYAN EARN ALL-WIAC HONORS
MADISON, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire men’s basketball players Dan Beyer (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and Zack Ryan (Sr.-Lake Elmo, Minn./Tartan) have received All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) recognition, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today. Beyer led the Blugolds with a first team All-WIAC selection, the first of his career. Last season Beyer was selected to the conference’s honorable mention list. This season Beyer led the Blugolds averaging 19 points per game, which also tied for first place in the conference with Stout’s Miles Webb. Beyer also led the team and was third in the conference averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. He also had the team’s best and WIAC’s third best field goal percentage, shooting 60.6 percent (209-for-345). Beyer was also second on the team and 10th in the conference with 75 assists. While Beyer was a senior this season, he will be back on the team next season as a fifth-year senior after earning a medical hardship during his sophomore season. Ryan received recognition on the conference’s All-Sportsmanship team. The team was selected for individuals who displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school as selected by that school. Ryan was fifth on the team this season, averaging 6.7 points per game. While Ryan started in 22 games and played in 23, he missed four games near the end of the season due to an illness. He was able to come back strong for the final four games of his career to help make important contributions to the team. Whitewater’s Matt Goodwin earned player of the year honors and Stevens Point’s Steve Hicklin was named the WIAC’s scholar-athlete. Whitewater head coach Par Miller received coach of the year recognition. Official WIAC Release & All-WIAC Team List - KM -
