Oliver Drake enters his first season as an assistant men’s basketball coach for the Blugolds. Drake is currently pursuing a master’s degree in MEPD from UW-Eau Claire.
Prior to Eau Claire Drake was the head boy’s basketball coach at Cadott High School. As one of the youngest head high school coaches in Wisconsin, Drake lead the Hornets to 17 victories in two seasons. Picked to finish near the bottom of the western division of the Cloverbelt Conference, the Hornets defeated three-ranked teams and was the conference leader in scoring defense allowing 48.2 points per game. At Cadott Drake developed a feeder system at the grade school level allowing younger athletes to learn and play basketball.
In 2000-01 Drake was the head sophomore and assistant varsity boy’s coach at Eau Claire Memorial High School. During that season Drake lead the sophomore team to a 15-5 record and helped the varsity squad to a 17-6 mark including a Big Rivers Conference title and regional championship.
Drake is a veteran summer camp coach, working basketball camps across the nation including Wisconsin, Northwestern, South Dakota, North Dakota State, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, Five Star, Morgan Wooten’s Basketball Camp, Hoosier Basketball School, Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook and Snow Valley Basketball School.
A native of Neillsville, Wisconsin, Drake received his bachelor’s degree in physical education K-12 from UW-Eau Claire.
