GYMNASTICS ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire head gymnastics coach Jean DeLisle recently announced the team award winners for the 2007-08 season.

The Most Valuable Performer Award was presented to Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, Minn.). This season Olson competed at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships and had a personal best performance in the all-around with a 36.925. In the NCGA West Regional/Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Olson recorded another personal best on the uneven bars. She was also honored as an NCGA All-American in Academics.

Kerri Ritsche (Fr.-South Range, Wis./Superior) earned Most Improved honors. Throughout the season Ritsche steadily improved and was one of six Blugolds to advance to the NCGA Nationals.

Olson and Katie Kooiker (So.-Grantsburg, Wis.) were also honored with the team’s Most Spirited Award.

Team captains were also announced at the banquet. Anna Sutherland (Jr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) and Leah Gilseth (Jr.-Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) were selected to lead the Blugolds next season.
