GYMNASTICS INDIVIDUALS COMPETE AT NATIONALS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team sent many individuals to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NGCA) Division III National Championships and many took top places, though none made it to tomorrow. The top 14 in each event advanced to tomorrow’s finals and the closest Eau Claire got was 15th. Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, Minn.) had a season-high 36.9250 points in the all around to notch that spot, but it ranked behind the 37.2500 from MIT’s Sarah Trowbridge. Anna Sutherland (Jr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Roseville) tied for 20th in the vault with a 9.500 score, which ties her season’s best mark. Brittany Adams (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) also competed on the balance beam while Samantha Howard (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) performed on the uneven bars. Kerri Ritsche (Fr.-South Range, Wis./Superior) took her nationals try on the vault while Lauren Strecker (Fr.-Little Canada, Minn./Roseville) did so on the floor exercises and uneven bars. There were two UW schools in the team competition. UW-La Crosse took first with a 189.0500 total while UW-Whitewater placed fifth on a 187.2000 score. It is La Crosse’s eighth title in the past nine years. There were six teams competing. Complete Results - PH -
