GYMNASTICS WRAPS UP HOME MEETS FRIDAY

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team will host UW-Whitewater this Friday at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The meet will start at 7 p.m.

Eau Claire enters the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet with a 2-12 overall record. Whitewater is 5-4 on the season.

The meet will be the Blugolds’ last home meet of the season. Next week Eau Claire will travel to La Crosse for a triangular meet with La Crosse and Gustavus before they head to the WIAC Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Regional hosted by Hamline University on March 8.

The Blugolds have seen good performances from a number of gymnasts this season. Kristi Olson (Sr.-Minnetonka, Minn.) has been a consistent force for Eau Claire this season, finishing high in some events the last few weeks. Anna Sutherland (Jr.-Arden Hills, MN/Roseville) is also performing well and was the highest finisher for the Blugolds last week, taking second in the all-around competition with a season high score of 9.500.

Samantha Howard (So.-St. Paul, MN/Henry Sibley), Brittany Adams (Sr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) and first-year gymnast Kerri Ritsche (Fr.-South Range, Wis./Superior) have also performed well this season and have been improving throughout. All three have been consistently finishing in the top 10 in a number of events this season and look to perform even better this weekend.
