GYMNASTS FALL AT OSHKOSH

OSHKOSH – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team fought off the elements of winter but were not able to overcome host UW-Oshkosh as the Titans defeated the Blugolds 180.825-176.175 here tonight at the Kolf Sports Center.

The meet marked the last dual meet for both teams as they prepare for next week’s Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional. The Titans finished 5-2 in WIAC dual meets while the Blugolds went 0-4 during the season. Both teams will compete for the opportunity to advance to the NCGA Championships hosted by UW-Whitewater on March 23-24.

Kristi Olson (Jr.-Minnetonka, MN) was the top Blugold finisher on the balance beam, floor and all-around. Olson placed second in the all-around with a score of 36.100 and floor tying teammate Ashley Brett (Sr.-Forest Lake, MN) with a 9.325. Olson tied for fourth on the beam earning an 8.750.

Theresa Lynch (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) placed second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.125. Amber Dorholt (So.-Mound, MN/Westonka) finished in a tie for fourth place on the vault with a 9.225.

The Blugolds will compete at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional hosted by UW-La Crosse on Thursday, March 8. Competition is set to begin at 6:00 P.M.
