GYMNASTICS HANDS OUT TEAM AWARDS FROM PAST SEASON

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team and Coach Jean DeLisle handed out team awards from this past season at its annual banquet on Sunday.

Receiving the Most Valuable Gymnast award was senior Lynn Morris (Sr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes). Morris earned All-American honors for the fourth straight year in the balance beam. Morris also earned All-American honors for the second consecutive year in the all-around. Morris ends her Blugold career as an eight-time All-American.

Morris was also named National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Region's Division III Gymnast of the Year.

Andi Rude (Jr.-Onalaska, WI) was given the Most Improved award. Rude had an average score on the uneven parallel bars this season of 7.558.

The Most Spirited award went to Leah Ittner (Sr.-Minneapolis, MN/South) for the fourth year in a row. Theresa Lynch (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) and Ashley Brett (Jr.-Forest Lake, MN) were both named captains for the 2006-07 season. Lynch became the third Blugold gymnast ever to win an individual national championship as she took first place in the floor exercise
