GYMNASTICS COMES UP SHORT AGAINST DEFENDING CHAMPS

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team came up just short tonight against the five-time defending National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) champions UW-La Crosse 182.025-177.975.

The loss drops the Blugolds to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets. The defending eight-time WIAC champion Eagles improve to 3-0 in conference dual meets.

The Blugolds' Lynn Morris (Sr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) placed first in the meet in the all-around with a score 36.275. This is the second time this season that Morris finished first in the all-around. Morris also finished first in the vault with a score of 9.4 and was the top Blugold finisher in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.325.

Jenni Wick (Sr.-Sartell, MN) was the top Blugold finisher in the balance beam with a score of 9.225, and Angie Cich (So.-Plymouth, MN/Armstrong) was the team's top finisher in the floor exercise with a score of 9.125.

Up next the Blugolds will compete in the UW-La Crosse Invite to be held next Friday night at 7 p.m.
