BLUGOLD GYMNASTS TO HOST GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS AND STOUT
The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team will host sixth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus and UW-Stout tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center.
Lynn Morris (Monticell, IN/Twin Lakes) will look to continue her hot streak against the two teams. Morris has topped the Blugold record in the uneven bars from previous years four times already this year. At the Jefferson Classic held at Winona State earlier this year, she scored a 9.275 on the bars to set the Eau Claire standard.
The Blugolds have already set numerous Eau Claire records so far this year. Alison Eagles (So.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) set the record on the balance beam with a score of 9.425 earlier in the year at the Aloha Invite held in Eau Claire. Kristina Reitzel (Jr.-Oakdale, MN/Hill-Murray) set the all-around record earlier in the year with a score of 36.225.
The Blugolds set the team record last week as well in a loss to UW-Oshkosh. Eau Claire had a composite score of 176.650.
The gymnastics team has competed against Gustavus Adolphus twice already this year and Stout once. Eau Claire took second to Gustavus Adolphus in the Aloha Invite and finished three places behind the Gusties at the four-team Winona State Invitational.
Gustavus Adolphus brings in the defending Division III National all-around title holder in Amanda Parker. Parker is currently ranked first in the all-around competition as well as first in the uneven bars and balance beam and third in the floor exercise.
The Blugolds competed against Stout at the Gershon/McLellan Invitational held in La Crosse. Eau Claire finished second in the five-team event while the Blue Devils finished fourth.
