FOOTBALL RANKED IN FINAL NATIONAL POLLS

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Following only its second appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs, the UW-Eau Claire football team received recognition in the final addition of two national polls.

The Blugolds, who advanced to the second round of the playoffs, finished ranked 13th in the final American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches’ Poll released on December 18. Conference opponent and national champion UW-Whitewater topped the poll.

Eau Claire also received a 12th place ranking in the final D3football.com poll. This is the highest ranking the Blugolds have achieved since 2004. That year, Eau Claire appeared in the poll every week during the regular season and was ranked as high as No. 6 in week eight, but dropped out in the final poll of the season. Prior to this season, the last time Eau Claire appeared in the D3football.com poll was week five of 2005.
