Matt Rice enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Blugolds. Rice will be the special teams coordinator in addition to serving as the defensive line coach.

A McFarland, Wisconsin native, Rice comes to Eau Claire after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota from 2003-05. At Northern State Rice served as the Wolves’ special teams coordinator as well as the tight end/fullback coach. Prior to Northern State Rice was the offensive and defensive line coach at McFarland High School.

Rice received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater in physical education with a minor in coaching. At Whitewater Rice was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner for the Warhawk football team.
