"Because of the way this award was set up to honor teaching and scholarship, I think it is one of the most meaningful ways to be recognized," said Murphy, who joined the UW-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department in 1989. UW-Eau Claire's Academic Advising office is seeking UW-Eau Claire alumni business cards to be included in a display at the university's 10th annual Majors Fair Oct. 23. The fair is an opportunity for undeclared and prospective students to find out about the various majors offered at UW-Eau Claire. The business card display is arranged by major to help students see how one’s major can be applied to the “world of work,” said Signe Matson, academic adviser. Students are often surprised by the variety of occupations majors can pursue, she said. Business cards submitted for the display should include the alum's major and year of graduation printed on the back. The cards will be used for display purposes only.
