Duties:
I primarily work with students who have not yet selected a major or those who are thinking about changing their major. Regardless of who you are, I welcome your questions and look forward to working with you.
Background:
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and completed a BA in Communication and Spanish, and an MBA from the University of Hawaii – Manoa. I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of capacities at Universities and that’s how I came to love the field of Academic Advising. I had a great time being involved with Peer Mentoring, Learning Communities, and New Student Orientation at the University of Hawaii. Then I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado where I worked in Admissions, Advising, and the Honors Program at Colorado State University.
Interests:
Cooking...........I love to eat! I cherish long walks with my dog Misty because it helps me work off all that food and puts me in a good mood. I love traveling to different places, meeting others and discovering a little about their culture. I've taken adventurous trips to study Spanish in Mexico, canoeing and camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), camping and hiking in Utah, backpacking in Italy, snorkeling in the Bahamas, and treks in the rainforest of Costa Rica.
Were you undeclared?
Heck ya’! I was an undeclared student until my university sent me a little “nasty-gram” telling me to declare or I’d be ineligible to register for classes the next semester. “oh-oh, time to declare.” In my personal and professional experience, I’ve learned that most folks are undeclared and I think you should be proud of it. There’s nothing wrong with taking a bit of time to explore and make a good decision on which major to pursue. There are many neat things to study and learn; it can be a tough decision to make if you don’t take advantage of the great resources available to you right here on campus.
Something fun!
My sister-in-law caught the "big one" on her annual fishing trip to Canada. This is no "fish tale", the proof is in the picture, 39" Northern Pike! Dinner? No, it was released.
