English Composition Requirement for Transfer Students
The English composition requirement changed with the 2004-2005 Catalogue. Starting with this Catalogue, all students must complete English 110 or its equivalent with a C or higher.
- Students who transfer in the equivalent of English 110 with a grade of C or higher (usually a course with 4 credits or more) have met the requirement.
- Students who transfer in the equivalent of English 110 with a grade of C- or
lower must retake English 110.
- For transfer students who have taken two courses that transfer in as the equivalent of English 110 (usually two 3-credit courses), the grade in the second course must be a C or higher.
If the grade in the second course was lower than a C, but the grade in the first course was a C or higher, the student is eligible to take English 112, College Writing for Transfer Students (2 credits). The student must receive a C or
higher in this course.
- Students who have met part of the English composition requirement at a UW System School, or students from a non-System school who have between 2.66 and 3.99 credits of English composition and received a C or better will take English 112, College Writing for Transfer Students (2 credits). They must
receive a C or higher in this course.
