Transfer Evaluations
Students are sent an official evaluation of their transfer credits with their acceptance to UW-Eau Claire. At the time of Orientation/Registration, a UWEC transcript, with course equivalencies, is put into the student's advising folder.
Symbols on a Transcript Evaluation
| CONSULT | Credit granted, but Admissions could not determine course equivalent. |
| DEFER | Credit has not yet been awarded. |
In both these cases, the student should go to the appropriate department chair to have the course evaluated, bringing the Transfer Credit Evaluation and, if possible, a course outline or syllabus (including the title of the textbook used) and a copy of the school catalogue.
NOTE: It is in a student's best interest to take care of Consults and Defers immediately.

Unless restricted, can be used in department's major or minor. With Waiver/Substitution, can apply to G.E. |
| ELEC 000 (GE) or Dept. ELECT (GE) | Can be used for specified G.E. category. A Waiver/Substitution is required to use it as a G.E. IV subcategory. |
| LD | Lower-division (Freshman, sophomore) course work |
| UD | Upper-division (junior, senior) course work |
| IP | In progress. Transfer evaluation pending until receipt of final, official transcript. |
| GPA/N-ERN | The course is being recorded and calculated in transfer G.P.A., but credit is not being applied to the total credit requirement. |
| * | Part of a "group" equivalency. Individual equivalency not assigned. |
| T | Depends on grade earned in course. |
| PROVISNL | Credits will be accepted if the first 12 semester hours at UWEC are completed with a C or better for each course. |
| CONSULT-P & DEFER-P | Credits will be accepted if the first 12 semester hours at UWEC are completed with a C or better for each course AND the courses have been cleared with department chair(s). |
| CONFIRM | A confirming course or exam is needed to determine UWEC credit. See the appropriate department chair for details. |
| NOT/SUBSQ | Credit not counted because course is being or has been repeated |
*A fourth digit after ELEC 000 means:

| Q | GE IA, lower division |
| R | GE IA, upper division |
