Duties:
The main focus of my job is to help undeclared students find their path here at UWEC and beyond. In order to do this, I help them select classes, explore majors and careers, and find ways to enrich their undergraduate experience. In addition to meeting individually with students, I work with a student organization for former and current undeclared students called SOAP, and I will begin teaching a Career and Major Exploration class in the fall.
Background:
I am originally from Neillsville, Wisconsin. However, since graduating from high school, I have lived a TON of different places—Eau Claire, Whitewater, Minneapolis, La Crosse, Alaska, California, Kansas City and Milwaukee. Through these travels, I have gained a B.A. in English from UWEC, a master’s degree in College Student Development and Administration from UW-La Crosse, and have had other job and internship opportunities as well.
Interests:
Shopping, walking my dogs, eating, traveling, playing sports and watching reality TV (my guilty pleasure).
Were you undeclared?
No, I wasn’t smart enough. Rather than declaring myself “undeclared” I did what I call “major hopping.” I just hopped from major to major, never really having the guts to say I didn’t have any idea what I wanted to do. It ended up causing me a lot of frustration (not to mention extra classes!) so I wouldn’t recommend it!
Something fun!
Not only did I graduate from UWEC, but my grandma graduated from UWEC about 55 years ago, and both my parents went here…I guess you could say this place is in my blood!
